This saves a great deal of cost because you keep all of your interior trim as existing. This is great choice if you have some very expensive trim inside of your home surrounding the windows. In this style of replacement, the old window frame gets completely removed, along with the casing trim on the interior of the windows.
This means that the new window will be installed from stud to stud as opposed to inside of the old window frame. Using this method, you are able to get a little bit more of a larger glass space, which is something that you may not be aware of. Also, you get new casing trim on the interior, which may be a plus if yours is old and worn out. Each window style has a different pricing point as well. Here is a summary of the different types. The Tilt Pac window also comes in two different styles, including the single-hung and double-hung windows.
The types of glass used in windows have a wide range as well. Customers have insulating glass options that have two varieties, including dual pane and triple pane. Moreover, there are options for decorative glass and a specialty glass options range.
The prices for each varies. With regards to size, Marvin offers custom-sized windows which can come in any shape and size according to the needs of the customers.
However, prices will depend on the shape and size you choose as these two dictate the amount and type of material to be used. Marvin windows are the best option for the mid to high price range. There are different varieties of series available which you can choose from according to your environment and needs.
Additionally, you have several frames and styles available for your choice, which can also be customized. They come in a variety of sizes, so no matter where you need to install them, you will find the perfect size for it. I don't hear about it that often, but it does happens. I personally think the Soft-lite Imperial vs. Sunrise Restorations are the better windows over the Marvin Infinity, but they are all quality products.
Coupled with a professional installation company, any of these three should be a very solid choice. Okna also has a presence around Chicago and you may want to get a bid on their series to see if this could provide some additional value.
The is an excellent window. Dane - Site Editor - from Marvin Infinity Price Bid Dane, you graciously gave me some window feedback last year but due to some family situations and now Covid, we haven't moved forward yet.
I am trying to tie stuff up and just wanted to get a little more feedback from you if you would be willing. For 13 windows picture and double hung x40, x40, x40, x40, and a picture window with 2 side windows I have several quotes. First: How does this pricing look? Second: Regardless of price, what do you think of the quality, warranty and look of these windows. Thanks in advance. Mike - Homeowner - from [Site Editor's Answer] Hi Mike, so the pricing looks pretty fair for full frame replacement.
Marvin has the better reputation over Gilkey and it looks like Gilkey is right in the middle of the other bids from Marvin. I like the Infinity model over the Integrity myself. Tim - Site Editor - from Marvin Fiberglass Windows Cost Quote Hi, I love the look of Marvin fiberglass windows but the cost is more than I want to spend for 6 double hung windows in a modest townhouse.
I realize I will have to make some compromises, but can you recommend some vinyl windows that have a similar look without the high price tag?
I really don't like many of the vinyl frames that are thick and cheap looking, but I want a good quality window at a decent price. Best regards. One option is the Sunrise Restorations window, which is strong and thin, a very nice window.
Soft-Lite, Okna and Kensington make excellent vinyl windows as well. Check out our mid range and premium vinyl window options here to see which specific models we recommend.
Sunrise Classic Window Hi Dan, last question for you. Thanks for all your help. I would give the nod to the Marvin Infinity fiberglass window over the Sunrise Classic. I would probably weight the company doing the install more than the differences between these two windows.
But pound for pound, I'd have to give the edge to the Infinity. A fair number are odd shaped, which is probably why the bids seem so high. Pella Impervia I have 2 bids for 25 windows.
Each one includes the cost of laminated glass, which adds to each bid, but we live on a loud street and need to reduce down the noise. Each of the windows includes tempered glass and full grids, which I know adds to the price.
Price seems quite high to me. Randy - Homeowner - from Marvin Infinity vs. All of them look like wood but none are the Marvin are stainable so we can get a better match to our interior frame, but the others are close.
Window world are obviously the cheapest, but the warranty is really good. They don't come with metal fixtures even as an upgrade and I can just tell they aren't terribly good quality. The ProVia Endure is relatively new but is supposed to be their most energy efficient yet. The installers of the higher two are supposed to be really good as far as our companies in this area are concerned.
Anyone have any opinions for me? They will cost you more money and headaches in the long run. The warranty doesn't really mean much to be quite honest with you, not after 8 or 9 years, which is when most of the problems start. ProVia makes a good window and I agree with you about the energy efficiency. The Marvin Infinity is a very nice fiberglass window, however it is also quite a bit more expensive -- not surprising. I think those are your two choices, ProVia or Marvin. You just have to decide whether the Marvin is worth the extra money.
If it were me, I would see if I could get the ProVia rep or Marvin rep to come down on their price to sweeten the deal and then I'd pull the trigger. Have not received a price for the OKNA yet? Alice - Homeowner - from [Site Editor's Answer] The Marvin Infinity is considered a high quality fiberglass window that is quite well built and attractive as windows go. The Okna Insul-Tec is a high quality vinyl windows that is quite well built and is, like many vinyl windows, decent enough to look at.
The Okna should provide better performance, but the Infinity is generally seen as the nice looking of the two. Either way, these two windows are both considered very good. I'm hoping for a quote on Milgard Ultra's too. Thank you for that. Perhaps if you like the overall look of the Infinity. If not, I'd stick with the Alpen I have 8 double hung windows to replace. Looking at that price difference though, I think the Okna is the hands down way to go. The aluminum clad option is the more expensive of the two options and the better of the two in terms of long term durability and maintenance requirements.
The Ultimate window uses a real wood interior jamb liner compare to the vinyl jamb liner on the Integrity , which is much nicer looking and can be stained to match the finish.
Consumers can choose from the following interior wood options; white oak, mahogany, douglas pine, fir, and cherry. The Ultimate window is completely customizable and comes with tons of hardware, frame color and component upgrade options. In terms of price, the Ultimate will be on par with Andersen series cost , although many contractors and homeowners feel the quality and craftsmanship is worth the rather steep price tag. Tim - Site Editor Marvin Windows Warranty The Marvin window warranty is good for 10 year on all manufacturing defects materials and workmanship , insulated glass and non tempered glass.
This 10 year warranty period also extends to window components, hardware and lift rails. The stainless steel spacer and cladding finish is warrantied for 20 years.
Specialty interior and exterior finishes are warrantied for just 5 years. This warranty really can't compare to most vinyl window warranties that are lifetime warranties on frame, sash and all components. Marvin Ultimate Windows Cost Hi! Looking at your website, hoping for advise, tired of researching windows, reviews are all over the place. Our house was built in the late s, half brick and half sided.
In the sided half, we have Marvin Integrity windows from a while back, no issues, maybe 10 yrs ago. I dont mind paying for quality. What is the best vinyl window that I can install myself? Alot of the high end vinyl window are only sold installed.
On the main floor. Current openings are in the brick part of our house with wood 2x10s as framing, dropping the windows into each of the openings. Old windows have been removed.
I am in the STL mkt, on the Illinois side. Also have a quote from zen windows. Will the Nirvana or Marvin's provide a substantial improvement? Or am I better with the Marvin Ultimate windows? Or a good wood window. Also have access to anderson. Pella, Ellison, atrium, Norandex, vinyl max and vinyl kraft. Thru abc supply. Also have options for Alside and Revere. I have heard that Okna was willing to do it for a consumer and they are my favorite vinyl window brands out there.
I would call up your local Okna dealer and ask them. It is a very solid mid range option though. The Marvin Ultimate is a very nice wood clad window and worth that price. I like the Marvin brand and feel like they do make a quality product. I personally think vinyl windows make more sense than wood clad from a cost, maintenance, long term quality and energy efficiency perspective.
The Vinylmax Newton and Edison are quite good vinyl windows. I wonder if your ABC stores carry either of those. If so, I might go this route. Sounds like you have a good handle on it though Tim - Site Editor - from Marvin Ultimate vs. We have 8 windows to replace with a bunch of work to be done on the frames.
