Very simple, here's what I'm trying to do: Copy all files on the Library Shelf of a File Server department files, home directories, etc. I'd try gigabit ethernet to copy the files out, but I'd assume I'd get the same error and in either case, i'd like to clear it up.

Or use a recovery agent, if you've got one. First off, the folder that all of these files were in was owned by a specific user. Which is probably why I wasn't able to delete a specific file, even though the ACL said I should be able to, and I had ownership. Once I took over ownership of the root folder I forgot to click the box to Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions.
